eProd Tangential Flow Filtration

Automated tangential flow filtration for concentration, diafiltration and buffer exchange, with TMP and ΔP control.

eProd TFF is a tangential flow filtration platform designed for industrial concentration, clarification and/or buffer exchange operations using diafiltration, with a high level of automation. This version integrates a stainless steel tank, online instrumentation and a control system PLC + HMI/eSCADA that allows operation with control strategies based on TMP, flow rate and pressure limits (ΔP), as well as recipes, traceability and reporting.

The system is compatible with different membrane formats (cassette, hollow fibre and, optionally, ceramic/tubular modules) and can cover microfiltration, ultrafiltration and nanofiltration* processes depending on the membrane and housing installed.

* Nanofiltration depends on the availability of modules/membranes in the selected format and their compatibility with the housing.

Compatible membrane formats, cassettes, hollow fibre and ceramic/tubular

The ePROD TFF platform is designed to support different TFF membrane formats within the same workflow, including cassettes, hollow fibre, and ceramic/tubular, depending on the selected membrane and housing. This flexibility helps match the setup to your process needs for concentration and diafiltration without changing the control approach.

Approximate operating ranges

The following ranges are indicative and should always be validated with the membrane manufacturer and through process testing. The recommended strategy is to work with TMP and ΔP limits and adjust the crossflow to control fouling and shear.

Filtration type (TFF)Typical targetTMP guidelineIndicative flux (LMH)Selection notes
MicrofiltrationClarification / turbidity reduction0.1–1.0 bar50–200Select by pore size (µm). Pre-filtering can help stabilise the flux.
Ultrafiltration Concentration / diafiltration0.2–2.0 bar5–80Select by MWCO (kDa). Control by TMP and ΔP limits to reduce compaction risk.
NanofiltrationFractionation / low molecular weightsTBD (depending on module)TBDNF often requires higher pressures. Confirm housing compatibility and operating limits.

Flexibility across TFF membrane formats

Scale from pilot to production with a TFF workflow that keeps control logic, operating windows and data handling consistent, so concentration and diafiltration stay predictable as volumes increase.

• Concentration and diafiltration of biomolecules
• Clarification and turbidity reduction
• Buffer exchange (diafiltration at constant or variable volume)
• Processes with traceability, control and reporting requirements
• Separation processes with specific membranes

Features of eProd TFF 100 L and 500 L models

The platform is offered with two multi-purpose tank configurations. In terms of characteristics, the tanks are equivalent; the main difference is the volume and, consequently, the typical flow/area range and installed power.
